Jiayi's view on article: Call for cyber wellness projects (Thursday, August 5, 2010 / 6:58 PM)

From my point of view, I think teenagers nowadays should be educated on cyber awareness. They should know the consequences of the things that they post on the internet, for example, blogs, live journals, twitter, facebook and etc, and also how serious these matters can become. Before posting, they should always think it through, whether it is right and relevant to post certain things and whether it will hurt or offend other people. This is to minimise the chances that they offend people, thus, will prevent them from getting into troubles with others.

Also, I feel that they should not take inappropriate pictures and videos and store them in their phone, send to their friends or post it on the net. Either of these actions is a form of disrespect to the person whose videos or photo is taken, which can result in them being hurt. This matter can be more serious if not handled properly as the victim may go into depression, causing him or her to do foolish things.

Thus, it is of great importance for "bullies" to be educated on the proper use of the internet and mobile technologies. They should also be made aware of the consequences of the actions that they made and learn to be more responsible and also be more mature.
