Singapore's parents come in different genres. There are the parents who spoil their children silly to be spoilt brats. There are those who are 'kiasu', wanting nothing but the very best for their children. And lastly, parents who whack their children up for the slightest reason.

I really pity the article's victim. She was exposed to her closest kin's violent behaviour at such a tender age. I'm sure she will be scarred for life. I hope MCYS will engage a counsellor to erase her nightmare. I really doubt the mother's love for her daughter. She should not only be jailed, but sent for anger management course.

There might be alot of children out there who are on the receiving end of their parent(s) abusive treatment but their plights did not come to light. The teachers in school, neighbours and those who notice about unexplained body scars on children, should report it to the relevant authority.
