Linden's view about the Stamping out drain litter (Sunday, May 16, 2010 / 6:48 PM)

I feel that it is important to keep the environment clean and tidy. We Singaporeans lack the knowledge of keeping the country a clean and green city. Indeed the country itself has already taken measures against people who treats canals or drains as bins where we could just throw our rubbish in it. I feel that just by placing stickers around the drain is never enough. We should educate the public so that they know how important we should keep the environment. Singapore is Small Island and we are facing land deficiency. We will never know in future, Singapore will be buried by tones of rubbish. So we should practice the 3Rs too. Reduce the amount plastics bags used. Reused water to water plants that you have wash rice with. Recycle bio-degradable things. However the article did mentioned that the tones of rubbish collected have went down by a tones and this is positive people because I think more people are aware the littering and rubbish issue. Let’s keep up the good work and keep Singapore a green and clean city where many countries have praised us on.
